About my research...
I am interested in the diverse knowledge systems and participatory approaches (citizen science, youth engagement, community-based monitoring (CBM), Indigenous guardians, etc.) that contribute to community-led environmental decision making in resource-based and remote communities. My research is mostly co-developed with Indigenous communities and northern organisations (arctic, sub-arctic) while working closely with my network of provincial and federal government partners in Canada and abroad, and focuses upon the governance of natural resources as well as wildlife of cultural and economic significance (fisheries, mining, other wildlife).
How my research can improve life...
My research improves life by facilitating processes and providing tools with which resources-based and remote communities are empowered to make environmental decisions and engage in research regarding their lands and land-based activities, contributing to local resilience and capacity development.
