Tuition, Fees and Cost of Living

The information below provides estimated annual full-time tuition, fees, and living expenses for graduate students at the University of Guelph. Tuition and fees vary by program and student status (domestic or international) or courseload (full-time or part-time). 

Actual program costs will vary depending on your program, lifestyle, housing choices, and whether you are supporting family members. All costs are estimated in Canadian dollars and are subject to change at any time.

*Eligible PhD and DVSc international students admitted with a minimum 80% admission average may receive the International Doctoral Tuition Scholarship.

Graduate Program-Specific Fees

Some graduate programs have additional program-specific fees separate from tuition and compulsory fees. The following fees are estimated per semester for the 2026–2027 academic year and are subject to change:

• Master of Applied Nutrition (MAN) – Internship fee: $2,666.67
• Master of Business Administration (MBA) Online – Program fee: $477.86
• Master of Landscape Architecture (MLA) – BLA Student Society fee: $50.00
• Master of Leadership (MA LEAD) – Program fee: $477.86
• Master of Project Management (MPM) – Program fee: $477.86
• Master of Psychotherapy (MP) – Practicum fee: $1,000.00
• Master of Relational and Family Therapy (MRFT) – Clinical fee: $1,333.34
   

Graduate Compulsory Fees

University of Guelph graduate students are also required to pay compulsory fees, including student organization and University fees. These fees typically total between $800-$1,000 per semester and are added directly to your tuition and fee account. Learn more about compulsory fees at Student Registrarial Services.
 

University Health Insurance Plan

International students are also required to enroll in the University Health Insurance Plan (UHIP), which provides mandatory health insurance coverage while studying in Canada. The cost of UHIP varies depending on the semester and whether you are enrolling with eligible dependants. The current annual cost for individual coverage is $792. Setting Up Your Home in Guelph

Graduate Student On-Campus Housing:
Applications for Fall are due by June 1, 2026.

International graduate students beginning in Fall 2026 are guaranteed a space in campus residence if they submit their application and deposit by June 1. Applications submitted after June 1 will be placed on a waiting list and accommodated based on availability. See Important Dates for Residence.

Domestic graduate students may also apply by the specified deadline; their applications will be considered subject to space availability. While not guaranteed, graduate students with partners or families are encouraged to apply for Family Housing.
