Landscape Architecture, Indigenous Graduate Scholar
Why did you choose to complete your graduate studies in your program at the University of Guelph?
As a graduate from the Bachelor of Landscape Architecture program at the University of Guelph, I am passionate about the profession and was eager to further develop my skills and continue learning. I saw the master’s program as an opportunity to further specialize in areas I am passionate about, gain valuable research (and possibly teaching) experience, and become more confident in myself before entering the professional world. The 4 years I spent as a student at Guelph were very positive for me, and I grew to love the learning environment. I could not imagine a more inclusive and comfortable place for me to pursue my extended education.
A bit about the work you are doing here...
Though still in the early stages of my research, I look forward to exploring creative mapping, graphic representation, and data visualization. I am passionate about creative graphic communication, and the digital tools available to convey design information.
How do you think your research (or the work you are doing at U of G) can potentially improve life?
I believe that within the profession of Landscape Architecture, it is important that the client and the public are well represented, involved, and informed in the process and the making of decisions. The improvement of the communication process is essential in achieving this. I hope that through exploring the ways people understand and communicate, and by exploring new ways to represent complicated information, that stronger design can be facilitated.
