About my research…

My research examines the regulation of fatty acid and glucose metabolism in skeletal muscle and adipose tissue. Dysegulation of metabolism in these tissues leads to insulin resistance. My lab investigates how hormones, diet and exercise affect these processes.

How my research improves life…

Ultimately, we are examining factors that contribute to the development of diabetes, and how best to prevent this. Given that diet and exercise are important factors, this relates to quality of life in several ways.

Why choose graduate studies in your program…

We have an excellent graduate program with expertise in a breadth of areas. Individuals will be exposed to advanced techniques and a valuable opportunity for growth.
