About my research

The overarching goal in the lab is to understand the mechanisms and consequences of protein misfolding in neurodegenerative conditions. To enhance the clinical applicability of findings studies will be completed in models of multiple neurodegenerative conditions to facilitate the discovery of shared mechanisms. Furthermore, a combination of human tissue samples, human cell culture models and mouse models will be used to ensure relevance to human disease.

How my research improves life

According to a global burden of disease study, neurological diseases are the number one cause of disability worldwide and the second leading cause of death. My research aims to better understand environmental factors that contribute to the onset and progression of multiple neurological conditions. By increasing our understanding of the role of environmental factors in the development of neurological conditions could facilitate the elucidation of preventive strategies for this devastating group of disorders.
