Advice for Prospective Grad Students…

I would tell prospective students that pursuing graduate studies at UofG is a good choice, as they provide students with the opportunity to learn in a classroom, along with research opportunities. The research opportunities give you an opportunity to put the knowledge you learned in the classroom into a real-life situation. The research that you will pursue will add valuable information to the academic and industry community.

2019 Graduate – Marketing & Consumer Studies, MSc

Why I Chose Guelph…

I chose to complete my Masters at the University of Guelph as it provided me with the opportunity of completing in-class work and research opportunities. The ability to take the knowledge learned in the classroom and applying it to my thesis work was the major contributor to the completion of my Masters at the University of Guelph.

About Being a Grad Student at U of G…

Being a graduate student at UofG, was amazing. The professors were supportive and friendly, they welcomed an open door policy, in which we could speak to professors freely about their work. This atmosphere encouraged us to communicate with others about our research ideas, which aided in the development of concrete thesis ideas. The administrative staff were also friendly, and supportive. They provided us with everything we required, which made everyday life easy. Overall, being a graduate student at the University of Guelph was great, and all staff were willing to help in pushing our education and career forward which motivated us to do our best.

What Makes U of G Unique?

The UofG campus is a beautiful campus with historical buildings and beautiful architecture. Along with the buildings, there are beautiful outdoor areas that can be explored which add to the overall beauty of being on campus.

About the City of Guelph…

Living in Guelph, gave me the opportunity to experience the small town lifestyle, while also being close to all major necessities. Guelph is a beautiful city, with history and an outdoor lifestyle. It gives you the opportunity to go out and explore in nature, but also along the streets of downtown Guelph where you can learn the history of the city.

About Future Goals...

After graduation, I plan to work for a health agency (Canada Health, Ontario Health etc.). Working at these health agencies, will give me the opportunity to do research on the consumption patterns and lifestyle patterns of the community. Upon completing the research, I will also have the marketing knowledge in order to create programs and advertisements that will target the community and help improve the consumption patterns of those in the community.

How Will Your Research Improve Life?

The research that I worked on will help improve the consumption patterns of University students, as focused on consumption patterns and the ways in which to improve them through social influence. By focusing on social influence I targeted many areas in order to improve the consumption patters of students in University. Using social influence, I created programs and ads that target the individual, the university, and the overall student population.
