Grad Studies Virtual Townhall

Given where we find ourselves in this global pandemic and provincial lockdown, it is understandable that many of us are facing challenges with respect to being productive and maintaining mental health. To assist, we have invited experts from the Canadian Mental Health Association’s Centre for Innovation in Campus Mental Health to join us at a forthcoming Virtual Graduate Student Townhall, the details of which are below.

Grad Studies Photo Contest Entry Deadline EXTENDED to Oct30th

OGPS PHOTO CONTEST ENTER HERE The Office of Graduate Studies is excited to announce the return of the Graduate Photo Competition. Enter for your chance to win one of three $500 prizes (1st Place) or one of three $200 prizes (2nd place). Incoming and returning graduate students: join us for a Virtual Townhall on September 15th, 2020 from 12:00-1:00 pm!  Ask questions regarding the Start of the Fall'20 Semester & Important Graduate Studies Updates (email sent September 4th) to Ben Bradshaw (Assistant Vice-President, Graduate Studies), Teresa Crease (Associate Dean, Graduate Studies), and/or your College's Associate Dean of Research and Graduate Studies. Graduate Student University Teaching Days (GSUTD)

The Graduate Programming team in the Office of Teaching and Learning is excited to announce that we will be hosting our annual Graduate Student University Teaching Day (GSUTD) completely online this year! Due to the switch online, we will be extending this event from our traditional one-day event to an entire week, which we will now be calling the Graduate Student University Teaching Days to reflect this extended format.

Vanier Scholarship Intent To Apply Deadline

The Vanier CGS is a prestigious scholarship valued at $50,000 per year for 3 years and is designed to attract and retain world-class doctoral students.  Both Canadian and International students are eligible to apply and may be nominated by the University of Guelph if they demonstrate all three of the equally weighted criteria: academic excellence, research potential, and leadership.  Vanier Scholars will demonstrate leadership skills and a high standard of scholarly achievement in graduate studies in the social sciences and/or humanities, natural sciences and/or engineering and health. Information - Vanier CGS competition Important Deadlines for Candidates: Deadline to submit a University of Guelph Intent to Apply form is August 10, 2020 at 11:59 p.m. (EDT).  Deadline to submit a completed Vanier CGS application in ResearchNet is September 18, 2020 at 8:00 p.m. (EDT).

Beyond the Professoriate’s 7th Annual Online Career Conference for Graduate Students and PhDs

The program features 16 PhDs from all academic disciplines, who will discuss networking, resume writing, online job search strategies, and how to manage a career transition. This year’s conference will also directly address tips and strategies for navigating the job market during the COVID-19 crisis.  Where: Online!
