Graduate Student University Teaching Days (GSUTD)

The Graduate Programming team in the Office of Teaching and Learning is excited to announce that we will be hosting our annual Graduate Student University Teaching Day (GSUTD) completely online this year! Due to the switch online, we will be extending this event from our traditional one-day event to an entire week, which we will now be calling the Graduate Student University Teaching Days to reflect this extended format.

Vanier Scholarship Intent To Apply Deadline

The Vanier CGS is a prestigious scholarship valued at $50,000 per year for 3 years and is designed to attract and retain world-class doctoral students.  Both Canadian and International students are eligible to apply and may be nominated by the University of Guelph if they demonstrate all three of the equally weighted criteria: academic excellence, research potential, and leadership.  Vanier Scholars will demonstrate leadership skills and a high standard of scholarly achievement in graduate studies in the social sciences and/or humanities, natural sciences and/or engineering and health. Information - Vanier CGS competition Important Deadlines for Candidates: Deadline to submit a University of Guelph Intent to Apply form is August 10, 2020 at 11:59 p.m. (EDT).  Deadline to submit a completed Vanier CGS application in ResearchNet is September 18, 2020 at 8:00 p.m. (EDT).

Beyond the Professoriate’s 7th Annual Online Career Conference for Graduate Students and PhDs

The program features 16 PhDs from all academic disciplines, who will discuss networking, resume writing, online job search strategies, and how to manage a career transition. This year’s conference will also directly address tips and strategies for navigating the job market during the COVID-19 crisis.  Where: Online! Alastair Summerlee Scholarship Deadline

Value: up to $15,000, payable over 2 semesters Details: Established by students, alumni, faculty, staff, retirees, volunteers and friends of Alastair Summerlee who made contributions to an endowment to honour and recognize his terms as President of the University of Guelph. This scholarship will be awarded to a graduate student contributing to civil society through international field work that is part of a course of study and preference is given to students working in Africa. This scholarship will provide opportunities for international travel, hands-on experiential learning, and help develop leaders to excel in international development priorities. Arthur Richmond Memorial Scholarships Deadline

Value: One-time award of $4,000 Details: Established in memory of the late Arthur Richmond (OAC '23), horticulturist and teacher. Full-time master's students up to semester six and doctoral students up to semester nine in one of the following programs: Plant Agriculture, Integrative Biology, Molecular & Cellular Biology, or Environmental Sciences.
