About my research
Infectious disease outbreaks pose significant health and economic risks to Canadians. While well-planned interventions could prevent or minimize disruptive outbreaks, the effectiveness and costs of new strategies to prevent outbreaks is unknown. The simulation models that my group develops allow for more effective planning that lets limited resources be allocated in a way that optimizes infection control practices and minimizes disease transmission.
How my research improves life
My research uses mathematical models and computer simulation to help identify improved infectious disease prevention and control strategies in both humans and animals. Our work has a significant impact on public health and veterinary health, by strengthening planning and disease control strategies to prevent infectious disease outbreaks.
