About my research…
My group uses animal models of neuropsychiatric disorders and neurodegenerative disease to determine how neuronal communication within and between brain regions is dysregulated in these disorders and how these changes impact on specific characteristics of the disease. We are also trying to determine which cellular processes contribute to these communication deficits with the goal of identifying new therapeutic targets.
How my research improves life…
Neuropsychiatric disorders and neurodegenerative disease have significant impacts on the population, yet more effective treatments are needed. Furthering our understanding of the neurobiological mechanisms that underlie these diseases may offer the prospect of fundamentally different and novel options for treatment.
