About my research…
My research uses theoretical and methodological tools associated with Political Ecology to examine the social and political challenges associated with biological conservation in Southeast Asia and Canada. I have an interest in conservation induced livelihood change, forest governance, conservation partnerships and Indigenous-led conservation governance. My work seeks to improve the social and ecological outcomes of conservation governance.
How my Research Improves Life…
Conventional conservation practice has long sought to separate people from nature and has resulted in the displacement of Indigenous people from their traditional territories, resulting in poor social and often ecological outcomes. Seeking to document and develop more socially just forms of conservation governance will improve the lives of Indigenous Peoples and their non-human relatives.
