Why I chose Guelph...
I did my undergrad within the same department and decided it would be best for me to stay where I knew both staff and students would be helpful, supportive and generally knowledgeable about the department and research.
About my advisor...
My advisor is an amazingly intelligent and supportive person. She is always willing to help troubleshoot our experiments and always has time to meet with us even when she is busy. She reminds us all that experiments may fail many times but that we should never let that get in our way.
What is it like to be a grad student at U of G?
Busy! I always have a lot to do, but this busy schedule is what keeps me actively working towards my goals.
How will my work Improve Life?
Very few antifungals are currently available on the market to cure fungal infections; my research will hopefully precede further research in antifungal development against Candida albicans, an incredibly common cause of many fungal infections in humans.
My future plans...
I would like to go into research. I feel UofG has helped me achieve that goal by providing programs and opportunities to learn about research.
