About the work… 

Martin Pearce makes paintings and drawings. Fundamentally, his work explores problems of representation; those problems are explored through attention to "process" and his work can be contextualized in a tradition where that attention to process functions metaphorically.​

How art can improve life...

All paintings and drawings reflect, to a greater or lesser extent, the cultural, social and psychological conditions that exist when and where they are made. It is a function of art to improve life by offering opportunities for contemplation of how what we see can enable us to reflect on all aspects of our lives.
It is an understatement to describe this as an enormous historical venture - my work contributes to but a small corner.
