About my research…

In my research, I strive to consider the complex nature of health while at the same time working to focus on developing and delivering practical actions to improve health and wellbeing for humans, animals and the environments that support us all. Most recently, I am working to develop new methods to find and assess clues from the environment that may be used to predict threats and help decrease vulnerability of human and animal populations.

How my research improves life…

There are many messy but fascinating problems threatening the health of humans, animals and environments today. Health challenges like antimicrobial resistance and emerging zoonotic diseases will not be resolved quickly or easily but through collaboration and consideration of the issue in context we may be able to do better. With new research methods and development of new One Health programs at the University of Guelph, I aim to inspire students, faculty and staff to seek answers beyond their fields of expertise to find creative solutions to complex health problems.
