Advice for Prospective Students...

LinkedIn can be helpful but face-to-face interaction is where it's at! You should make connections with everyone you meet. Faculty members, as well as your colleagues, are not only great people to have day-to-day conversations with but they are also a valuable resource in terms of receiving feedback, guiding your study direction, and providing helpful advice. These relationships can last well beyond your study at the University of Guelph and throughout your career.

Why I Chose Guelph...

Location and program reputation were influential in my decision to study at the University of Guelph. The City of Guelph offers a comfortable environment that balances the calmness I need to focus on my studies and the vibrancy of a city in terms of culture, relationships, and exploration. A Master of Landscape Architecture degree from the University of Guelph has earned a fantastic international reputation and graduates of the program have contributed to projects and research at the forefront of innovation. The generous entry scholarship wasn't too bad either!

About My Advisor...

Having a close academic relationship with an advisor has been a highlight of my study thus far. Dr. Martin Holland has always been available to help me with my concerns and I always feel comfortable meeting with him to discuss anything that crosses my mind. He has also been integral in giving me inspiration and providing me with the resources to refine my skill set. Thank you, Martin!

About the Campus...

The Centre for Canadian Landscape Architecture Archives is an outstanding one-of-a-kind resource only found at the McLaughlin Library. The helpful archival staff make it so easy for students to access a plethora of original project materials created by renowned landscape architects from concept sketches all the way to fruition. A visit here is a must if you are looking for guidance and inspiration along the planning and design process- or if you're simply looking for a sense of awe.

How will my work Improve Life...

My approach to landscape architecture is simple: to design environments that improve the well-being of both humans and nature. Through my research, I hope to continue to fulfill this approach, inspire others, and, most importantly, improve life.

My Future Plans...

After graduation, I plan on becoming a contributing member to the field of landscape architecture. I hope to experience both the public and private sector, join advisory design panels, and be a leader within the community, among many things. My time at the University of Guelph is without a doubt helping me to prepare for these career goals.
