Being a Graduate Student at Guelph…

When you are a graduate student, you are not only a student but you are also a teacher. Within my role as a Teaching Assistant, I had the opportunity to teach lectures and share my industry experience. This experience has been very rewarding and I had undergraduate students reach out to me and ask for advice on applying to the graduate program, or simply ask for advice on how to select the right job in the marketing industry.

2018 Graduate – Marketing & Consumer Studies, MSc

Why I Chose Guelph…

I chose to complete my graduate studies at the University of Guelph because of the positive experience I had during my undergrad, and because of the strength of my program. The MSc MCS program provides me with the qualifications to work in the market research industry.

About My Advisor…

I had a very strong relationship with my advisor. I knew them since I was an undergraduate student completing a Bachelor of Commerce degree in Marketing Management. I graduated in 2014 and stayed in touch with my advisor. When I was having difficulties with my career in 2016, I met with my advisor and asked for help. She suggested the MSc MCS program and showed me that this program would allow me to pursue a marketing career that is specialized and robust.

My Future Plans…

I plan on working in the marketing research industry in Toronto. I have had the opportunity to intern at Labatt Breweries of Canada within their Marketing Insights department. This experience has allowed me to see how the MSc MCS degree equips you with the tools and expertise needed in order to work in market research.

About Campus…

The people are the best thing about campus. Every member of the Guelph campus community is wonderful. Ranging from the undergraduate students to the graduate students, and from faculty to staff - everyone here is friendly, welcoming and warm. I look forward to coming to school every day.

About Financial Support…

I received the Graduate Excellence Entrance Scholarship ($15,000) and OGS ($15,000) which have been immensely helpful during my studies.
