Why I Chose Guelph...

I chose the University of Guelph because of the university’s excellent reputation in a diverse array of biological sciences. In particular, I knew the DNA barcoding initiative originated here and I was interested in its potential applications as a diagnostic tool in food inspection, forensic science, and environmental monitoring.

About My Advisor...

My advisor gave me the freedom to develop my own ideas for a research project which I found both challenging and rewarding – although this level of independence was a new experience for me, I was able to learn a lot about the scientific process.

About the City...

Guelph is a great city that is full of friendly people and delicious food – whether you go to the farmer’s market or try the local cafés and pubs, it’s all about the food!

About Financial Support...

The funding I received from my department covered both my tuition and my living expenses. This was very important to me because it meant I could attend graduate school, gain valuable experience, skills, and training without going into debt.

My Future Plans...

I would like to work in a government or private lab doing research or DNA analyses.
