About my research…

Dr. Rozita Dara is the Principal Investigator of Data Management and Privacy Governance research program. Her research group focuses on advancing the next generation of Internet of Things platforms using artificial intelligence, with a particular focus on information privacy governance. Dr. Dara's group works closely with several private, international, and government organizations on projects related to building distributed and cooperative artificial intelligence algorithms to protect data (e.g. blockchain) and ethical intelligent machines to ensure information privacy and fairness.

How my research improves life…

The future of the Internet of Things is driven by artificial intelligence. The objective of this research program is to build autonomous intelligent agents that can protect data online, ensure fair and responsible use of personal data, ensure compliance with regulations, and enhance data integrity and quality. Our ability to harness Big Data and the Internet of Things is dependent on the technology solutions that can effectively secure and protect data.

Why chose U of G?

Dr. Dara's research programs cut across several disciplines which gives the trainees in this program take advantage of becoming exposed to a wide variety of skills. On completion of their training, trainees will have the necessary training to enter into academia or industry, helping Canada maintain competitiveness in artificial intelligence, cybersecurity and ethical aspects of these disciplines.
