About my research…
My main research interests are directed towards the development of algorithmic solutions for VLSI Physical Design Automation using mathematical programming advanced Meta heuristic search techniques and machine learning. My research also involves the design of hardware accelerators for different applications using reconfigurable computing platforms.
How my Research Improves Life…
One of my main research activities addresses the development of Electronic Design Automation (EDA) tools for Application Specific Integrated Circuits (ASIC) and Field Programmable Gate Arrays (FPGAs) which are used today in all types of applications including security systems, consumer products, medical equipment, manufacturing systems, robotics to name just a few. Improving the EDA flow leads to circuits with less area, better speed and lower power consumption. This enhancement improves life in many sectors and fields.
Why you should choose Guelph…
The University of Guelph is consistently ranked as one of Canada's top Comprehensive Universities by MacLean's Magazine. Engineering at Guelph has undergone massive expansion, which enhanced many research areas including Engineering Systems and Computing/Computer Engineering. Our labs are equipped with state-of-the-art equipment and supported by the Canadian Microelectronic Corporation (CMC). There is great interest in Electronic Design Automation and Reconfigurable Computing Systems by many high tech companies located in KW region and therefore graduate students who pursue a degree in this area will be able to secure a job in one of these companies.
