Description of the Area/Topic of Research
The AI Lab in the School of Computer Science at the University of Guelph invites applications for Postdoctoral Researchers to carry out exciting, industry-focused research and development in Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning, and Deep Learning (AI/ML/DL) in the area of Health and/or mHealth. Candidates for this position should hold a Ph.D. degree in Computer Science or Software Engineering and will have completed their Ph.D. within the past 2-3 years. They should demonstrate experience in AI/ML/DL using Python, TensorFlow, PyTorch, etc. The Post Doc is expected to work collaboratively with McMaster University and the McMaster Centre for Software Certification (McSCert).
You will receive mentorship and support from the School of Computer Science at the University of Guelph and McMaster University’s faculty and researchers, along with our industry and community partners. Additional opportunities may include teaching and supervising students and traveling to disseminate your research at conferences and industry events.

The McMaster Centre for Software Certification (McSCert) is a leading research center dedicated to advancing the theory and practice of software certification, ensuring the development of high-quality, reliable, and safe software systems. McSCert focuses on creating rigorous certification processes and tools that can be applied across various industries, including healthcare, automotive, aerospace, and more. The center collaborates closely with industry partners and academic institutions to drive innovation and promote best practices in software engineering and certification.
General Outline of Duties
You will work with expert faculty researchers and an international world-class team of academics, postdoctoral researchers, Ph.D. students, master’s students, and undergraduates from the University of Guelph and McMaster University. Our research groups have strong track records of collaboration with industry. You will also be working closely with industry and community partners.
You will have the opportunity to visit McMaster’s McSCert, which is located 30 minutes away in the Department of Computing and Software at McMaster University, in Hamilton, Ontario, Canada.
Student Supervision: The successful candidate would be expected to supervise and collaborate with graduate students in the AI Lab.
Required Qualifications
Candidates for this position should hold a Ph.D. degree in Computer Science or Software Engineering and will have completed their Ph.D. within the past 2-3 years. They should demonstrate experience in AI/ML/DL using Python, TensorFlow, PyTorch, etc. The PDS is expected to work collaboratively with McMaster University and the McMaster Centre for Software Certification (McSCert).
Start Date & Duration of Appointment: 2 Years (e.g., Feb 2025 to Feb 2027)
Anticipated Hours/Days of Work: 35 hours/week
Salary Information
$70,000 Postdoctoral Scholar; additional income opportunities may be available, for example, 1) teaching undergraduate or graduate courses at the University of Guelph and/or McMaster University; 2) research assistantships; 3) other scholarship, teaching and/or research activities.
