Eligibility
The CSC Doctoral scholarship is an understanding between the University of Guelph and the China Scholarship Council (CSC), offered to exceptional Chinese prospective Doctoral (Ph.D.) students. Candidates must be a Chinese Citizen/Permanent Resident and must apply for the scholarship through CSC. Further information on the application process can be found on the CSC website. The University of Guelph would require you to meet all regular admission requirements for the proposed Ph.D. program (ie. Master's equivalent, English Language Requirements, etc.)
Funding
The CSC Doctoral Scholarship is split funding between the China Scholarship Council and the University of Guelph. The following is the minimum distribution of the funding by party taken from their website:
CSC coverage (max. 12 semesters / 4 years)
- Return airfare
- Visa Application Fees
- Annual living allowance (incl. UHIP)
University of Guelph (max. 12 semesters / 4 years)
- Tuition fees excluding compulsory, student organization, and other fees
- Please refer to the University of Guelph Graduate Awards CSC site for the potential OGS contributions towards the overall University funding.
- University funding is paid throughout the year, depending on type (ie. GTA is paid as the work is completed) and students are responsible to ensure fees are paid by the appropriate dates.
How to Apply
- Apply using the standard application process and supply all required application documents
- Indicate your sponsorship in the "Other" section of the online application under International Agreement and Awards/External Funding.
- During the application process, you should contact the Department/Program to inform them that you will be applying for the CSC Scholarship. You will also need to complete the CSC release of information form .
- If you are successful in receiving an Offer of Admission (Offer of Acceptance) it may be conditional on you receiving the CSC Scholarship. Use this Offer to apply for the CSC Scholarship through CSC (March 20th Deadline).
- When you receive confirmation of receiving the CSC Scholarship, inform the department/program and the supervisor
Eligibility
The Ciência sem Fronteiras (Science without Borders) scholarship is available to Brazilian students interested in Doctoral (Ph.D.) level studies at the University of Guelph. Further information on the scholarship and eligibility can be found on the Science without Borders website. The University of Guelph would require you to meet all regular admission requirements for the proposed Ph.D. program.
Funding
The following is the minimum distribution of the funding as per the Ciência sem Fronteiras website:
Ciência sem Fronteiras coverage (max. 12 semesters / 4 years)
- Tuition fees including compulsory fees (see website for excluded fees)
- Monthly living allowance (incl. UHIP)
- Return Airfare
How to Apply
- Determine your department/program of interest and review their admission deadlines/requirements taking advantage of the International Equivalency Database to ensure you meet the minimum grade/degree requirements.
- Research the potential supervisors for the department/program of interest on their website, and/or review the listing of researchers accepting international award holders
- Contact the department/program of interest to determine the procedure in finding a supervisor, and/or contact the potential supervisor directly
- Inform them that you will be applying for the CsF (Science without Borders) scholarship
- Apply using the standard application process and supply all required application documents
- Indicate your sponsorship in the "Other" section of the online application under International Agreement and Awards/External Funding.
- If you are successful in receiving an Offer of Admission (Offer of Acceptance) it may be conditional on you receiving the CsF Scholarship. Use this Offer to apply for the Ciência sem Fronteiras scholarship through the CsF website
- When you receive confirmation of receiving the CsF Scholarship, inform the department/program of interest and the supervisor
Eligibility
The Republic of Iraq Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research has agreed to provide ESL (English as a Second Language) and Doctoral (Ph.D.) scholarships to prospective Iraqi students to the University of Guelph. Please discuss scholarship eligibility, details and application process with the Government agency. The University of Guelph would require you to meet all regular admission requirements for the proposed Ph.D. program.
Funding
The following is the minimum distribution of funding as described in the agreement and is subject to change:
Government of Iraq coverage
- English as a Second Language training (max. 1 year)
- Tuition fees including compulsory fees (max. 12 semesters / 4 years)
- Living allowance
How to Apply
- Determine your department/program of interest and review their admission deadlines/requirements taking advantage of the International Equivalency Database
- Research the potential supervisors for the department/program of interest on their website, and/or review the listing of researchers accepting international award holders
- Contact the department/program of interest to determine the procedure in finding a supervisor, and/or contact the potential supervisor
- Inform them that you are eligible for the Republic of Iraq scholarship
- Apply using the standard application process and supply all required application documents. If you will be completing the English as a Second Language training, apply for the year following the ESL program (ie. Start ESL Sept 2015, apply for Sept 2016 graduate program)
- Indicate your sponsorship in the "Other" section of the online application under International Agreement and Awards/External Funding.
- If you are successful in receiving an Offer of Admission (Offer of Acceptance) it may be conditional on you receiving the Republic of Iraq scholarship
- If you are taking the English as a Second Language training, inform the ELP office of your offer so they can help organize your start in their program
