About my research…

My research lies in the field of global environmental governance, focusing primarily on the role of cities and transnational city-networks in reducing the world's global carbon footprint. I have worked extensively in Asia and Latin America, leading and conducting empirical field research on the politics of urbanization, decentralization and community-based conservation of water, land, forests, and fisheries in Thailand, Bangladesh, India, and Ecuador.

How my research Improves Life…

My research contributes to international development policy and practice by contributing to a body of knowledge that generates practical models and insights for reducing poverty and environmental vulnerability in the Global South. The findings of my research have been used to inform aid agencies, national governments, municipalities and local communities in developing real-world strategies for poverty reduction and adaptation to climate change.
